This banjo has a walnut pot and neck with an ebony fret board.

It has a fiddle cut head stock and a wooden tone ring made of cocobolo.

I installed a spike installed at the 7th fret and put in wooden side markers.

Banjos don’t have to have “drum heads.” Here’s a wooden top, fretless banjo designed for nylon strings.

The curly cherry top is 1/4” thick and braced like a guitar top. The pot and neck are walnut.

The head stock overlay and wooden side markers are made of highly figured sycamore.

Here’s my personal banjo.  It’s a A scale banjo so it’s a bit shorter than most, and features a brass tone hoop over a walnut block-build pot.

The fret board is cocobolo as is the paddle cut head stock.  The wooden binding is curly maple with cocobolo side markers.

The frailing scoop starts at the 17th fret and provides plenty of space from clawhammer playing, while keeping the action over the other strings as low as possible.
